These rules apply to members and applicants participating in the Business Advertising Ballito WhatsApp and Facebook communities.
Welcome
Business Advertising Ballito is a local community designed to connect legitimate businesses with potential customers and help members discover trusted products and services in Ballito and surrounding areas.
These rules are intended to reduce spam, scams, misleading advertising and disruptive behaviour while keeping the community useful for everyone.
Promote businesses
Give legitimate local businesses a professional place to advertise.
Connect locally
Help residents find services, products and businesses in their area.
Protect members
Reduce unverified posts, scams, spam and misleading opportunities.
Rule 1
Membership applications
New members may be required to complete an application before being admitted to the WhatsApp group, Facebook group, or both.
Applicants must provide accurate personal, contact and business information. The administrators may use this information to assess whether the intended advertising is appropriate for the community.
Approval is not automatic. Administrators may approve, reject or request further information before making a decision.
Providing false, incomplete or misleading information may result in rejection or removal from the community.
Rule 2
One advertisement per business per day
Each business may publish a maximum of one advertisement per day in each applicable group.
Members may not use multiple accounts, employees, representatives or repeated variations of the same advert to bypass this rule.
Duplicate advertisements may be removed without warning.
Rule 3
Business advertising only
Posts must relate directly to legitimate products, services, businesses or approved business opportunities.
- Keep posts clear, relevant and reasonably short.
- Include accurate contact and business information.
- Only advertise products or services you genuinely provide.
- Avoid unrelated conversations, chain messages and unnecessary forwards.
Rule 4
No spam or group flooding
Members may not flood the group with repeated messages or use disruptive posting methods.
- Repeated advertisements
- Posting the same message multiple times
- Excessive tagging of members
- Unnecessary repeated emojis or capital letters
- Unrelated forwarded messages
- Posting several separate messages for one advertisement
Rule 5
Prohibited financial schemes
The following content is strictly prohibited:
- Cryptocurrency investment promotions
- Forex trading promotions
- Binary options
- Get-rich-quick schemes
- Pyramid schemes
- Unverified investment opportunities
- Misleading passive-income claims
- Recruitment-focused schemes that rely mainly on adding new members
Members posting prohibited financial schemes may be removed immediately.
Rule 6
No illegal, adult or offensive content
Content must be lawful, suitable for a general community audience and relevant to legitimate business advertising.
- Adult or explicit content
- Sexually suggestive advertising
- Illegal goods or services
- Drugs or controlled substances
- Weapons or dangerous items
- Counterfeit goods
- Pirated software or media
- Illegal gambling promotions
- Content that encourages unlawful behaviour
Rule 7
Respectful conduct
All members must communicate respectfully. Disagreements must be handled calmly and professionally.
- No hate speech
- No racism
- No discrimination
- No bullying or harassment
- No threats
- No abusive language
- No personal attacks
Serious violations may result in immediate removal without prior warning.
Rule 8
Honest and accurate advertising
Members are responsible for ensuring that their advertisements are truthful and do not mislead potential customers.
- Do not make false claims about products or services.
- Do not impersonate another business or person.
- Do not advertise products you cannot supply.
- Do not use fake testimonials or reviews.
- Clearly disclose important conditions, exclusions and pricing limitations.
- Do not use another business's branding or images without permission.
Rule 9
Scams and fraud
Business Advertising Ballito has zero tolerance for scams, fraud and intentionally misleading activity.
Reports may be investigated by the administrators. Where appropriate, a member may be removed, permanently banned or reported to the relevant platform or authorities.
Group approval does not mean that the administrators guarantee or endorse a business.
Rule 10
Posting hours
Advertising posts are only permitted between:
08:00 – 20:00
South African Standard Time
Posts made outside the permitted hours may be removed by the administrators.
Rule 11
Polls
Members may not create or publish polls in the group.
Administrators may create polls to gather community feedback, identify areas for improvement and ask members about future group changes.
Rule 12
Privacy and POPIA
Members must respect the privacy of other members and comply with applicable privacy requirements.
- Do not share another member's phone number without permission.
- Do not distribute email addresses or personal details.
- Do not share screenshots of private conversations without permission.
- Do not add member information to marketing lists without consent.
- Do not distribute submitted application information outside the administration process.
Information submitted through the application form will be used to review and administer membership applications, manage the community and investigate reported concerns where necessary.
Rule 13
Reporting suspicious content
Members who identify suspicious, misleading, offensive or potentially fraudulent content should report it privately to an administrator.
Members should avoid public arguments, accusations or confrontations inside the group.
Rule 14
Administrator decisions
The administrators reserve the right to:
- Approve or reject membership applications.
- Request additional information from applicants.
- Remove advertisements that violate the rules.
- Restrict or remove members.
- Reject content considered unsafe, misleading or unsuitable.
- Update these rules when necessary.
- Take reasonable action to protect the community.
Serious or repeated violations may result in removal without prior notice.
Rule 15
Transactions and liability
Business Advertising Ballito provides a platform where businesses and community members can connect.
The owners, administrators and moderators do not guarantee the identity, legitimacy, quality, safety or reliability of every business, product, service or advertisement.
- Members transact at their own risk.
- Members should conduct their own research before making payment.
- Members should request quotations, invoices and proof of business details where appropriate.
- Administrators are not parties to transactions between members.
- Administrators accept no liability for losses, damages, disputes or agreements between members.
Facebook community
Business Advertising Ballito also operates a Facebook group for local business advertising and community connections.
